While the winter will keep us indoors for a while, students are excited to get back outside and play on a larger field, learning about base running and trying to hit-over-the-fence!
Fall 2025
There were some ‘naturals’ at hitting when students had their first opportunity to swing a bat. Participants also received instruction on fielding ground balls, pop flys and throwing. Special thanks to students from Malvern Prep for supplying the equipment and putting the participants through a variety of drills.
Chester’s history of baseball
As early as the late 1800s Chester hosted a variety of minor league baseball teams at Union Park (now called Veterans Memorial Park near 7th and Ward Streets). In the early days the Chester Blue Stockings played in a variety of minor leagues against other Delaware Valley minor league teams. It is understood that the last team to participate in Chester folded in 1912. The Chester Little League was founded in 1953 and ceased operations in 2008.
Our vision is to honor the past history and pave a way forward for youth interested in both baseball and softball.
