Career and Services Fair Draws Crowd

The committee work of Youth Development United and other community partners generated a very successful Career and Services Fair at Chester High School this past Saturday.

Hundreds of people attended the event, for which the Chester Upland School District provided free transportation, hot breakfast and other services.

The planning committee consisted of:

  • Angie Johnson, Boys & Girls Club Chester

  • Amanda Johnson, Office of the Mayor, City of Chester

  • Brittani Hales, Amachi and Making a Change

  • Stephanie Scappa-Hall, Chester Education Foundation

  • Katrina Robinson/Masquerade Business Consultants

  • Jeannine Anckaitis, Chester Upland Youth Soccer and Youth Development United

YDU helped to recruit a variety of contributors to the event including Chester Upland Youth Soccer coaches Titus Robinson, Chris Shavers and Gary Davis and junior coaches Drew, Damien, AJ and Angelis, plus Sifu Fred Grant of Grant’s Kung Fu Academy, Kevin Postlewait of Chester’s Bureau of Fire, LeTonya Wilson-Nalley of The Wardrobe, and others.

CUYS Site Directors Kelly Nagle from Chester Charter Scholars Academy, and Yolanda Jackson from Main Street Elementary helped manage the kids’ activities and reported back that the children had a blast while their older family members were left free to explore the valuable information tables and displays.
