Chester Youth Stay Active and Engaged During Spring Break

Spring Break didn’t slow Chester families down this year! Kids across the city spent the week exploring, learning, and having fun at free events, supported by Youth Development United. Learn more about three specific fun events below!

Scott Arboretum

During many local schools’ Spring Break, the Scott Arboretum in Swarthmore hosted an event and reminded everyone that the community is always welcome to visit. The very social and fun staff offered painting, scavenger hunts, garden tours, and more. Some children preferred to paint trees. Some came specifically to plant seed in their very own pots. Some came to prove how much they know about flowers and other plants. All came to enjoy nature. Despite the windy day, from 3 years old to 76, everyone had a great time exploring, especially when the hula hoops and soccer balls came out. It was a wonderful day to flourish with friends new and old.

Soccer Clinic

What better way could an athlete to spend their time on a warm day with other athletes? Players from all over came to the Soccer Clinic on Widener University's campus. All stations of play were filled with soccer lovers giving it everything they had. Widener's Soccer teams were present and giving it their best. Parents were energetic and lively. An experience, I guarantee, everyone will be looking forward to repeating.

Bowling Night

Youth Development United scheduled its monthly Bowling Night during Spring Break this year. As usual, families made the most of the active, fun atmosphere, enjoyed the outing, and appreciated bringing home care packages of fresh fruit. We are grateful to DICK’s Sporting Goods Foundation and CCRES whose generous support allows us to provide such experiences.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, this Spring Break was filled with laughter, movement, and connection. We’re so thankful for everyone who made these events possible!
